Site Information & Locations

We have three sites along the Welsh/English border. In total we have over 2000 acres of secure land with access to another 80000 acres under the 'right to roam' Act.

Site 1 is located in Nantyr Forest near Glyn Ceiriog, 10miles north west of Oswestry, Shropshire & is approx 700 acres. It comprises medium to heavy density coniferous forest interspersed with gravel tracks. There are a number of open areas, some with deciduous trees creating a lot of variation in the landscape. Set in a beautiful part of the Welsh hills this site is very remote & is surrounded by moorland, rolling hills & mountains.

Directions to Glyn Ceiriog

The easiest & most direct route is via the A5/A483, the Wrexham to Oswestry road.

Travelling from the north follow the A5/A483 to the Gledrid roundabout at Chirk. (NOTE: Ignore any signs indicating Ceiriog Valley prior to the roundabout. The roundabout is easy to find as the Moreton Park Garden Centre is on the right as you approach & there is a BP garage across the roundabout on the left)Multimap link. At the roundabout turn right (4th exit B5070) onto Chirk Road & follow the road for approx 1 mile.

Travelling from the south along the A5/A483 you will approach Chirk from Oswestry, head north until you reach the roundabout described above with BP garage on RHS. At this roundabout take the second exit onto the B5070 passing the garden centre on the RHS.

You will drive along the side of a valley & then across it where you will cross into Wales. Up the hill for approx 200m following the road round to the left. As the road bends there is an immediate left turn (Castle Road B4500 Multimap link) signposted for Glyn Ceiriog. Turn here & follow the road over some speed humps & to a mini roundabout & follow the sign left for Glyn Ceiriog.
Stay on the B4500 for approx 5-6 miles & it takes you directly into Glyn Ceiriog village via some small villages. If it is icy, take it easy along here as it is quite tight & twisty in places.

You will come to a mini roundabout in the centre of Glyn Ceiriog village with a small shop to your right front & a pub to your left front. Take the right exit (4th exit - road name Stryt Uchaf) which will take you up the hill through the village. The road is narrow & twisty in parts so take care. Follow this road as it twists up the hill & out of the village come to a cross roads on the summit. There is a farm on your left across the road from you (marked on OS maps as Finger Farm) & you need to turn left here heading for Nantyr.

Stay on this road until you reach a fork to the right along the base of a hill. Take this right fork. (Do not go left heading down the hill!!) This B road is a bit rutted in places so watch out for potholes. Follow this road as it bends along the side of the hill until you come to a gate on your right marked with an IED sign. Someone will be here or you can go through the gate, closing it behind you & follow the gravel track into site to the car park. Park as instructed by Staff.

Site 2 is in Ceri Forest & is approximately 1200 acres of forest & woodland , west of Clun, Shropshire. Two dis-used slate quarries, numerous tracks & junctions provide many realistic objectives for airsoft events.

The site is approximately 20 miles west of Craven Arms village on the A49 (multimap link). From Craven Arms head west on the B4368 for Clun, Newcastle & then Anchor. Anchor is approximately 17 miles from Craven Arms. At Anchor turn right by the public telephone box & head north along a minor road. Follow this road for about 1.5 miles up the hill. There will be open fields to your right & the forest will appear on your right at the top of the hill with a gate. You will be met here & directed or escorted to the car park by a member of staff.

Site 3 is approximately 80 acres of working sheep farm on the north edge of the Brecon National Park in special forces country, bordering the Black Mountains. Peny-y-Lan farm, Glasbury is aprrox 7 miles south west of Hay on Wye & 2 miles from the village of Velindre.
Terrain is mixed & includes streams, rivers, waterfalls, open fields with tall grasses & a mixture of deciduous woodland along a valley.
From Hay on Wye take the B4350 heading SW towards Glasbury. On leaving Hay on Wye and passing the business park on the right, turn left sign posted to Llanigon. Follow this this road for 3-4miles passing through Llanigon and turn left sign posted by a brown and white sign to Newcourt Pony Trekking Centre. Carry on up this narrow lane for 900 metres and Pen-y-Lan farm will be found on the left where IED Staff will be waiting to direct you to the parking area.

There is grass field parking on site as well as plenty of space for camping. There is even fresh water & one or two buildings that we use for briefings & admin.

This is pure infantry fighting across terrain used by generations of squaddies & toms on exercise. Anyone with experience of SPTA or Brecon will know exactly what we mean. For anyone wanting a proper 'feel' of what infantry fighting is all about, this is it.

All sites have adequate parking.

Due to the milsim nature of the events we run a certain amount of kit is required. For all events remember to bring everything you need including food, water, ammo etc. For weekend events adequate sleeping & shelter kit is required. During winter the weather can be cold & a good sleeping system is absolutely necesary. Bashas, tents or ponchos are very much required. A basic kit list is available on request. We do not have on-site catering at any of the sites so the only hot food available is what you can cook for yourself.

The 'Right to Roam' Act grants permission for the general public to use these areas & IED Airsoft sometimes use the surrounding countryside at any of our sites for navigation exercises/passive intel gathering missions during weekend events. Obviously, as these areas are outside of the confines of an IED area, weapons will have to be cached on site & retrieved once a team returns to the area.
